It’s small, and by that we mean it only has 25 seats. It’s also fairly new, and quite impossible to find casually, given that its door has no signage. But those who know, know – homegrown speakeasy Nighthawk is one of the best secret bars in town if you’re after a sophisticated night of tippling in an intimate space. And it’s just been given worldwide recognition thanks to its newly awarded 1 PIN in The Pinnacle Guide’s latest round-up.
To add on to the bragging rights? Nighthawk is the only bar from Singapore that’s been named in this evaluation from September 2025. Past awardees include Atlas, Origin Bar, and Barbary Coast (from May 2024), as well as Fura (from October 2024).
Other than its hidden appeal, Nighthawk – opened by veteran bartender Peter Chua in 2022 – is loved for its innovative cocktails, all priced at $25. Its eponymous rum- and amaro-based Nighthawks boasts warm notes of chocolate, coffee, and hot coconut foam, while the Quantum Observation Obsolete (QOO) is a fruity mix of shochu, spiced pear and white grape – think a grown-up version of a particular fruity Japanese drink.
The bar at Tanjong Pagar has also appeared on the World’s 50 Best Bars extended 51-100 list, ranking at #74 in 2024. Only time will tell if it’ll appear on this year’s top 50 list, after missing a mention in the extended list for 2025.
