You know what they say, never meet your idols, unless it’s the Sanrio gang of course – and at Universal Studios Singapore (USS), that’s now very much a real possibility. The park has rolled out Superstar Boutique and Superstar Café, a full Sanrio-themed shop-and-dine experience where you can step into a themed universe and meet iconic Sanrio characters like Hello Kitty and Pompompurin.

Starting off with the Superstar Boutique – there’s loads you can collect here. Think accessories like plush toys, keychains and hair accessories, and apparel like T-shirts for both kids and adults, striped jerseys marked with “74” in a nod to Hello Kitty’s birth year, plus cushions, pencil cases, headbands, bags and other small character-themed knick-knacks. The mix also includes novelty items like E.T. costumes and themed plush keychains featuring characters like Tiny Chum, alongside character sections for My Melody, Kuromi and Pompompurin, each with their own range of merchandise.

The boutique also hosts regular meet-and-greet sessions. See your favourite characters make choreographed entrances set to music, followed by photo opportunities.

Across the space, Superstar Café is offering a menu that’s fully character-driven. Swiss rolls come in combinations tied to different Sanrio personalities, from Hello Kitty’s strawberry layering to Kuromi’s black sesame and vanilla and My Melody’s rose-lychee pairing. Bombolone arrives in flavours like mango, apple cinnamon and blueberry, while drinks range from lemon fizz and green apple freeze to character-branded lattes served in themed cups.

This expansion builds on USS's Hello Kitty studio, which opened in 2017. What was once a themed corner has grown into a full-scale retail and dining experience where merchandise, food, and character meet-and-greets are integrated into one Sanrio-themed destination.
