The fun Japanese-inspired flavours from Kinki Restaurant and Bar get infused into convenient take-out options. From Bouhee Baos, expect souped-up versions of sandwiches made with fluffy steamed buns. Braised Beef Shawty ($22) comes stuffed with tender short ribs and lettuce, and Karaage Kid ($20) is an easy-to-love version of fried chicken thigh balanced with pickled cucumbers. Exclusive on the takeout menu (some of these baos can be enjoyed at Kinki’s rooftop bar) is spicy buffalo katsu ($20) and a Dixie Chicks ($56 for six) bundle. Otherwise, check out the loaded nigiri burgers from Chef Sumo, which might come filled with a slab of unagi and spam ($12.80), pan-fried salmon ($10.80), and more. Hearty bundles come in three ($30) or six ($56) burgers, best accompanied with sides of nachos ($13) made with cassava chips instead.

Hack It

Hack It

There’s no glamorous way of eating seafood. But Jumbo Seafood’s latest digital-only concept, Hack It, lets you enjoy the fresh catch in the comforts of your own home. The menu promises wallet-friendly ingredients cooked up in Southeast Asia-inspired sauces. And to sweeten the meal, table covers, bibs, and gloves for convenient enjoyment.

Choose from its signature Crab In A Pack ($66), which comes with crabs, clams, mussels, prawns, and corn; or indulge in the deluxe seafood pack ($108) lavished with Boston lobster. Depending on your mood, the seafood can come drenched in wok-fried sauces of chilli crab, a Jumbo hot-favourite; black pepper; creamy butter; or even some tongue-numbing mala. Complete the meal with Hack It’s noteworthy side dishes: salad ($12) with juicy additions of starfruit and rock melon; sotong dough fritters ($9.80) tossed in salad cream sauce; and seafood baked rice topped with chilli crab sauce ($9.80).

Island Kitchen Collective

Island Kitchen Collective

Island Kitchen Collective is probably the only place you can indulge in thick-cut sashimi and a savoury charcuterie platter in one sitting. This digital restaurant offers two different concepts: Wabi Sabi, which focuses on classic Japanese plates; and the Mediterranean-inspired Mercato Gatto. By doing away a brick-and-mortar space, Island Kitchen Collective hopes to translate the cost-savings to the diners.

Choose from over 80 options when putting together your own elective meal – start with slivers of swordfish ($13) and salmon ($13), or have some pita bread with chickpea hummus ($11). For mains, there’s the bara chirashi ($24) and teriyaki salmon ($24), available alongside pan-seared prawns with aglio olio ($20). Serving sizes are also generous, with almost equal amounts of protein and carbs to make a filling square meal. And to fully savour what Island Kitchen Collective has to offer, opt for the Best of Both Worlds set ($70 for two) which offers a sampling of everything – from the waters of Japan to Mediterranean seas.

The Priority Club

The Priority Club

Playing with food might typically be frowned upon, but this new delivery service hopes to bring fun to the dinner table. With its clever packaging, The Priority Club sneaks tabletop games into its offerings of pizza, pasta, and more. Hiding beneath an actual board game box is a selection of equally playful thin-crusted pizza flavours. Truffle Mac Attack ($19.90) is a glorious carb overload of tomato and mozzarella base, topped with a generous layer of truffled macaroni and cheese.

Or try the Curry Curry Revolution ($19.90), with Japanese curry-spiced chicken covered with an unusual topping: French fries. It helps add novel texture in each bite, but works as a bonus side snack too. Less whimsical, but equally hearty, is the 64-bit Kebabs ($22.90) – a fresh mix of spiced chicken, rocket, and creamy garlic yoghurt dressing. Wash it all down with some Priorities ($9), refreshing cold-brewed beverages that come sweetened with apple and rose, or grapefruit and osmanthus. Bundle deals help make for an affordable and fun night-out; choose from a two-player set with mains, drinks, and games for $45; or embark on a four-player feast for $89.

Merchant Brothers

Merchant Brothers brings to Singapore the best of Portuguese cuisine, and offers hungry diners an escape to the scenic country. Seafood, spices, oils, and more are lovingly curated from family-run farms and businesses. Stock the pantry with kitchen essentials and frozen seafood, or plan a hearty Portuguese feast via its delivery arm at CaterConnect. Tuck into a fresh salad, brightened with watermelon and orange, and topped with flame-kissed squish’s tentacles ($24); or spit some codfish-stuffed nuggets ($16). Other signature creations feature the classic Bacalhau à Brás ($35), cooked with fried potatoes, scrambled eggs, and hearty chunks of codfish (also a favourite dish of Cristiano Ronaldo!); a tangy seafood stew served in a sourdough bread bowl ($68.50); and sweet endings of egg tarts ($10.80) dusted with a sprinkling of cinnamon powder.

UbinEats

UbinEats

Having a zi char feast – typically enjoyed in a large group – doesn’t feel quite the same when you can only eat out with four other kakis. Homegrown seafood restaurant, New Ubin, is adapting to this challenge by rolling out its delivery-only concept, UbinEats, designed especially for the solo diner. Meals come in bento sets, and the ordering platform itself is made to resemble a virtual coffee shop, with three different ‘stalls’ to choose from. There’s the famed Ubin Nasi Lemak ($15), a special recipe that took founder Pang Seng Meng over a year of tinkering to develop its current recipe; and Ah Koon Scissor Cut Curry Rice ($15) with Hainanese curry brimming with vegetables stewed to the right softness.

Fat Sumo

Rice bowls make for an easy desk-bound – and on-the-go – meal too. Fat Sumo, an online-only restaurant by The Refinery Concept, offers a curated list of Japanese-inspired bowls. There are seven options to choose from (great for indecisive eaters); popular choices include the chicken cutlet donburi ($15), wagyu beef ($19), and salmon teriyaki ($19). Bundle deals are also available. But our favourite part of Fat Sumo? The option to request for the delivery personnel to surprise your loved ones with a birthday song to go along with the meal.

Burrata Joy

Burrata Joy

As its name suggests, this concept by one-Michelin-starred Garibaldi is dedicated to all things burrata. The humble cheese, made fresh using premium Italian ingredients, is available plain ($12.84), perfumed with truffle ($17), or served atop bowls of pasta ($from $22). But the main highlight comes in the form of its signature burrata bowls – there’s the Parma ($23.54), a classic pairing of the cheese with parma ham, cherry tomatoes, and rocket salad with balsamic dressing; or the healthy Milano ($17.65) which comes with a salad base of rocket leaves, pumpkins seeds, cherry tomatoes, and olive tapenade.
