The character Gudetama, your favourite lazy egg.
The decor Yellow is the main colour at this café, which is decked out with egg-shaped chairs and tables. On the walls are comedic framed photographs of Gudetama as well as a series of four portraits of the character in different poses. Look up, and you’ll see waffle pieces hanging from the ceiling.
Dish to try 'I'm Cold' smoked salmon eggs Benedict ($26.90) that comes stamped with the adorable character's signature face. The café teamed up with local bento artist and blogger Little Miss Bento to co-create the menu and style the dishes, while the food is a joint effort between Joe & Dough and The Soup Spoon.
The characters Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and their butt-kicking DC friends.
The decor The place is decked out with life-sized Batman and Superman figures while the food bears the iconic superhero colours or symbols. Posters of the heroes drape over the whole space, which also houses a merch section.
Dishes to try In the battle between Batman and Superman, choose between the Dark Night ($25.90) wagyu beef burger with red onions, portobello mushrooms and a cheddar cheese Bat-Signal on charcoal bun, or the Smallville Original ($22.90) chicken sandwich with grilled pineapples, a fried egg, tomatoes and a cheddar cheese Man of Steel symbol on buttermilk buns.
The character POMPOMPURIN, a pudgy golden retriever with an iconic brown beret. Interestingly, the yellow puppy was voted by fans as the top Sanrio character, well above Hello Kitty.
The decor If you're not a fan of POMPOMPURIN, prepare to become one. The dog's visage is plastered everywhere, from the topiary at the storefront to the light fixtures to a massive sculpture that dominates the café. Oh, and he's also on every single dish.
Dish to try Taco Rice in a Cup of Friendship ($20). A rice-moulded POMPOMPURIN sits atop a bed of sour cream, tomatoes, meat and veggies, served with a side of tacos. Bonus points if you spot the pooch's best friend Muffin the hamster. (Don't worry, it's not an actual rodent.)
The character Hello Kitty, with an 'orchid garden' twist: she ties an extra bow on her head and wears a purple dress to better reflect our national flower.
The decor Kitty White's presence in the café is subtle but everywhere. There are only two statues for taking selfies with the cat but you'll see motifs of Kitty on the trellises and embellished on seats. Although the limited edition Hello Kitty plushies have already been sold out, there's still other exclusive-to-Singapore merchandise available.
Dish to try Kitty's silhouette stamped on a cheese-slathered waffle, served with scrambled eggs, smoked duck and mushrooms on the Big Breakfast Surprise ($18.50).
The characters Marvel and DC superheroes such as Thor, Iron Man, The Flash and Superman.
The decor Hungry Heroes has got the themed restaurant decor down pat in this two-storey shophouse with glass showcases of figurines, framed images of the characters and busts of Iron Man lining the walls. The food's not exactly inspired by the comic characters, but that's a small blip in your immersion of the space.
Dish to try Nice to Meat You ($62) platter of pork ribs, sirloin, chicken leg and pulled pork.
The character Charlie Brown and his friends like Snoopy, Woodstock and Lucy, to name a few.
The decor Since moving to its new location at Cathay Cineleisure, Charlie Brown café has lost its cosy, semi-outdoor atmosphere, and Peanuts characters no longer adorn the lights and tables. Instead, expect a bright, window-facing café wallpapered with images of Snoopy and friends.
Dishes to try Desserts include crêpes ($9.80) – Peanuts characters are dusted on with icing sugar – with a side of ice cream (additional $3) and Snoopy's lava cake ($8.80) that comes in chocolate and matcha flavours.
