Opened by the chefs behind Mixsense Private Dining, Sin & Savage Bakehouse is a quaint little café situated within the Queenstown neighbourhood offering a great selection of sweet and savoury treats. Gather a group of friends so you can order more items to share and look forward to lounging the afternoon away over great food and conversations. While the menu offers classic brunch dishes like smoked salmon avo toast ($18), we recommend trying some of their pastas and mains like the smoked duck aglio olio ($20) and beef stew ($20). Don’t leave without trying some of their signature artisan donuts, sold in a box of six. Notable flavours include lemon meringue ($20 for a box of four) and hazel ganache ($27 for a box of six).

The vibrant neighbourhood of Tanjong Katong has a new kid on the block. Seng House is a cosy Hainanese-style inspired cafe opened by the folks behind Seng Coffee Bar at Changi Road. From comforting local flavours to gourmet brunch fare, the establishment offers all of that and more. Taking inspiration from their Hainanese roots, the menu offers classics like yellow curry chicken bowl ($16.80), Hainanese pork chop ($22.50), oxtail stew ($28.50), and claypot chicken rice ($18.80). For those who prefer western cuisine, try the Dirty Steak Sandwich ($28.80) or the British fish & chips ($19.80). There are also plenty of pasta options from vongole ($23.80) to bolognese ($19).

In the mood to try something new this weekend? Head down to Overbrod, a Scandinavian-inspired café located in the revamped wing of Anchorpoint Shopping Centre. Helmed by owner Gordan Tan, the establishment offers a great selection of hot and cold open-faced smorrebord or open-faced sandwiches that boast great textures and flavours. A notable highlight is the toast skagen (shrimps) ($18), featuring sweet shellfish that is tossed in mentaiko mayonnaise, resulting in complex yet clean flavours. Another popular favourite is the gravadlax (cured salmon) ($19), comprising salmon that is marinated in soy sauce for added umami. End off your meal with a sweet treat like the cinnamon knots ($6), which is soft, moist, fluffy and slightly chewy all at once.

It’s impossible to miss this café located along Frankel Avenue – from the main road you’ll notice two vintage bikes parked on the ledge of the building, right beside the shop signage. Opened by the folks behind 6 Letter Coffee at Tanjong Katong, this bicycle-friendly café with a garden theme offers one of the most extensive menus of over 100 items. If you’re not sure where to start, we recommend trying some of the popular favourites including the Brunch Tacos ($15) and 6 Letter Brunch ($21). The latter offers a wholesome mix of rosti, smoked salmon, sunny-side-up egg, mushrooms, fruits, avocado and salad. For heartier mains, try the BBQ ribs and truffle mash ($25) and the Wagyu burger and truffle fries ($28). Be sure to try their espresso-based drinks, made using a two-bean blend of Colombian and Guatemala.

Incepted by founders Ronald Tan and Maggie Chen, King’s Cart Coffee Factory is a café specially designed with coffee lovers in mind, offering a menu that is simple yet complex enough for enthusiasts to discuss anything from the origins of the bean to the acids and sugars used. There is even a roasting facility within the premise, allowing diners to catch a glimpse of the coffee production process and ask questions if they are keen. A unique creation you'll enjoy is the coconut cold brew ($10), comprising coconut water and coconut strips served with a side of cold brew concentrate. To fill up, the eggs on sourdough ($11) is the perfect example of a classic done well – creamy scrambled eggs served on crusty bread. For more substantial options, try the pulled pork burger ($22) or the portobello aglio olio ($22).

A newly opened gelato café tucked away at Oxley BizHub, Café Limonci, boasting floor-to-ceiling glass windows and plenty of comfortable sofa seats, is the perfect spot to spend a leisurely afternoon catching up with friends or simply reading in a quiet corner. Offering an extensive selection of gelato flavours, some of the must-try include the yuzu hojicha lavender, lemon curd thyme, oolong osmanthus, and Tahitian vanilla bean. Prices start from $4 for a single scoop. We recommend ordering your desired flavour with waffles ($6) which are delightfully light and crispy.
