We are thick into the World Cup season! This year’s affair has already been a spectacle: upsets, dramatic goals, penalty kicks, tears of joy/devastation – all making a huge difference between elimination and ecstasy. Fans fill up bars, pubs and public areas to watch the matches, and root for their team to be crowned the champion for four years of glory and bragging rights. Ardent football fans are now able to catch the football matches in the heart of Jewel. Catch some adrenaline pumping football action at Football Mania at Jewel, where live screenings will be shown at a mega LED screen at Shiseido Forest Valley. Root for your favourite teams in the comfort of an indoor garden that can accommodate up to 600 people. Fans who predict the correct winning team at every screening leading to the finals will stand a chance to walk away with up to $5,000 worth of Jewel gift vouchers.

There are also pre-match and half-time activities where fans can answer trivia and participate in games to win exclusive prizes from Qatar and Adidas. Other fringe activities include e-football console games, e-football challenges and live e-tournament games. Think you're up to par with Neymar? Another place to catch the nail-biting action for free? The National Library Building. The building’s ground-floor plaza will be transformed to resemble a football pitch complete with green cushion vinyl flooring. On Dec 17 and 18, up to 500 fans can catch the third place play-offs and finals on a 300-inch screen at the space. Bring your own picnic mats or beach chairs to catch the players tussle for the golden trophy. Food and drinks are also available – Harry’s bar will operate from 8pm to 12.30am while Hanis, a halal-certified establishment, will offer takeaways from 9pm till 11.30pm. From 9pm to 10.45pm, 

The National Library Board will also screen a specially produced video about interesting and lesser-known football fun facts and history. The video will include a feature of the recently published book ROAR: Football Legends of Singapore that pays tribute to 100 years of local football history.

Amazing skyline? Check. World-class football? Check. Booze? Check. Catch the ultimate showdown of the world’s best football teams on Dec 18 at the SkyBar and Club Lounge. Resident DJs will also be on deck to keep the energy going throughout the night. While Changi Airport is usually a hot spot for diners and shoppers, it's now a new stomping ground for football fans. Head down to the basement level of Terminal 3 where all the 2022 Fifa World Cup matches are screened. Hurry down and enjoy the matches – be sure to come early to get the best spot!

Watch the world’s greatest football teams in the comfort of your community club. Residents can enjoy the games at about 70 different community clubs, ActiveSG sports centres and Safra clubhouses. Live screenings will be held at 58 community clubs and five ActiveSG sports centres over the next few weeks. The third-placing matches, on Dec 17 and 18, will be shown at The Plaza at the National Library Building. In addition to watching the matches, you can challenge your friends to a game of foosball, e-sports and even catch live performances. Do check the timings of the different matches at the People’s Association website before heading down as not all matches will be screened at every location.

Can’t be in Qatar to watch the matches? Experiencing the thrill of the sporting event in a stadium itself may be your next best option. Watch a screening at the Singapore Sports Hub, and cheer on your favourite player.
