The Marina Bay waterfront is lighting up this Lunar New Year with a dazzling drone light show. Titled The Legend of the Dragon Gate, the event will see 1,500 drones take to the sky to tell the story of the mythical Dragon King.

The 10-minute performance starts at 8pm on February 6, 10, 11, 16, 17, and 18. The story draws on the legend of the dragon gate (longmen), which is said to lie at the top of a waterfall that flows from a mythical mountain. Carps that are persistent enough to swim upstream and make the final, brave leap through the dragon gate are believed to turn into a powerful dragon. Filled with themes of family, reunions, and perseverance, and many symbols of luck and prosperity, the light show is an auspicious one to usher in the Year of the Dragon.
