Time Out says

The founders of Art Incubator are holding an online sale to support emerging artists

With galleries closed for what looks like the long haul, it’s a particularly tough time for emerging artists who can’t get their work in front of your eyes right now. Art Incubator founders and avid collectors Teresa and Andre Biet have come up with a way to help.

They’re hosting Living with Art 2021, a digital auction of works from some of their favourite emerging artists. You can check them out here, and if you’re taken by what you see you can secure one for $950. Sure, that’s quite pricey, but look at it as a signature piece that will brighten your home for life. Even better, 100 per cent of the purchase price goes direct to the artist. You can read more about the process here

In normal times, the Biet's select two to three creatives to assist each year, donating funds towards buying materials, research or studio rental. Participants are also offered mentoring with a focus on navigating professional practice. Each entrant then gets to present a solo exhibition in a commercial gallery, with Art Incubator acquiring one of the works and prominently displaying them in corporate collections to help boost the artist’s profile. Eventually, these works are sold at a gala dinner auction that’s held every five years, helping kickstart the next cycle of support.

The online sale wraps up on Friday August 20 at 6pm so you can still pick up the beautiful glass fossil-like works of Stevie Fieldsend, David Griggs’ startling ink on rag visions, and Phil James' cartoonish tongue figures amongst other gems.
