PACT in Erskineville – one of Australia’s longest-running artist incubators – is celebrating a new bar and foyer with an EOFY party: DJs, art installations and performances, including feminist performance collective Show Us Your Teeth, DJ duo Fox Force II (Heaps Gay, Girlthing, Canned Fruit), dancer Cloé Fournier (Legs on the Wall; Branch Nebula) and projections artist Carla Zimbler.
PACT counts some of Sydney’s best performance-makers and artists amongst its alumni – including Zoë Coombs Marr, Mish Grigor and Natalie Rose (post), Bjorn Stewart (Black Comedy), FBi SMAC Award-winner Nick Coyle, Georgie Meagher (festival director for Next Wave), and Biennale of Sydney-commissioned artist Agatha Gothe-Snape.
Having been de-funded in the 2016 round of arts funding cuts, they’re hustling hard to keep the organisation open for current and forthcoming generations of boundary-breaking artists – including current resident James Nguyen and recent residents Amrita Hepi, Angela Goh and and Caroline Garcia.
A ticket to Raise the Bar helps them achieve that goal: $40 includes a $25 tax deductible donation.
