After almost 18 months of rejuvenation, the upgrades at Victoria Park are now complete. This 9.2 hectare park on the corner of Parramatta and City Road has long been a popular spot for students and shoppers, and hosts regular community events. It will be officially opened by Lord Mayor Clover Moore on June 30 at 11.30am, with free gelato, coffee and music on offer for anyone wanting to check out the new facilities.
The renovations have made pathways more accessible and safe, with extra lighting and increased entry points along City Road and connections to the University of Sydney. Other new additions include a netball training court, table tennis tables, more barbecues and picnic tables, and wetland plants and stormwater drains to reduce pollution in the park's central water feature, Lake Northam.
