First, some bad news for those with fond (read: blurry) memories of raucous Monday nights at this underground watering hole that used to be Scubar: the crab racing is no more. There is good news, though. After a thorough refurb, the place now has a more welcoming look – a little bit speakeasy, a little bit dive bar – and is on a mission to bring back the party for a wider audience.
From 4.30pm-10pm daily, it's laidback fun and casual drinks, pinball machines and popcorn at the ready. After that, the tables disappear and the place launches into club mode, with a different musical genre each night of the week. In a city thirsty for late night drinking spots, the 3am call time is a blessing, but for those who prefer to get in early, there's happy hour every night until 8pm.
