In case you didn't know, Peru's favourite national spirit, pisco, is actually a very versatile high-proof spirit that plays well with many cocktail flavours, from fresh and zingy to dark and spicy. The distilled spirit (which is made in the winemaking regions of Peru, from Lima to the southern city of Tacna along the coast) can have a wide range of flavour notes depending on the grapes used to make it. To highlight the versatile spirit, Time Out is hosting the first-ever Time Out Pisco Shakedown on Monday October 14 from 6pm.
Here's how it works. Time Out editors have asked Sydney bartenders to submit their top pisco cocktail recipes, and will pick the four best submissions. The chosen bartenders will then be invited to battle it out at the Time Out Pisco Shakedown at the Butler in Potts Point.
