Time Out says

A day of long lunch experiences comes to the CBD’s small bars precinct on Friday December 3

Nothing like ending the year with a boozy long lunch, and the Sydney party season will get a big kickoff on Friday December 3 when the small bars of the CBD host outdoor long lunches all across the York-Clarence-Kent Street (YCK Laneways) precinct.

Part of the Sydney’s Open for Lunch campaign supported by Destination NSW and the NSW Government, Long Lunches & Late Nights will put joyful dining and social connection back on the menu ahead of the big Christmas break to which the whole city is looking forward.

Expect great food, excellent drinks, live entertainment and enough leisurely fun to carry you seamlessly from day to night. Book in lunch and show your support for the local hospo scene, or even put in for an afternoon’s leave, because you won’t feel like going back to the office in a hurry.

Barrack Street will be transformed by the team at Prince of York, who will be unpacking the white linen for a long lunch of epic proportions. Lunch-goers can expect a cocktail on arrival followed by lavish modern-Australian feast with a Japanese twist, with matching wine and beer to boot. Tickets are only $65pp plus booking fee and can be found here

Neighbouring YCK bars will host seven smaller, more intimate laneway lunches on the day. The Barber Shop is doing a Gin Garden Long Lunch, while the Esteban team will host a Mexican-inspired feast. Since I Left You (SILY) bar is presenting A Taste of Kent Street, a three-course lunch in which each course is served by a nearby restaurant. Find out what each of the YCK Laneways venues are doing on the day by checking their website here.

As the afternoon stretches into the evening Sydneysiders can continue the celebrations with a jam-packed live music program at participating YCK bars including Sammy Jr, Spawn Point, Stitch Bar, the Swinging Cat, the Lobo, Uncle Mings, Grandma’s Bar and Redoak Boutique Beer Café.

The Little National Hotel, a brand new boutique hotel in Clarence Street, is the partnering accommodation member of YCK Laneways, offering special packages for those wishing to make a staycation of the event.

YCK Laneways is a group of independently operated retail, hospitality, corporate and entertainment businesses occupying the burgeoning precinct between Town Hall and Wynyard in the Sydney CBD. Since launching earlier in 2021, YCK Laneways has hosted a successful Block Party and 13-day event series, Night over Light. With Long Lunches & Late Nights, YCK Laneways presents a chance to experience the world-class hospitality of one of the city’s most popular entertainment strips alfresco.

Sydney's Open for Lunch is a citywide celebration of alfresco dining that will see food and drink pop-ups form top chefs across the Sydney and Parramatta CBDs as well as the city fringes on December 3. Over 6,000 tickets are available to attend Sydney’s Open for Lunch events.
