The festival is over but the fun is not – catch these cool highlights at Palace Cinemas till Wednesday.

Aquarius
The winner of the $63,000 Sydney Film Prize this year comes from Brazil. It’s the story of a determined woman (Sonia Braga) standing up against an aggressive property developer. Palace Verona, Mon Jun 20, 8.30pm; Palace Norton Street, Wed Jun 22, 6pm.

Janis: Little Girl Blue
An eye-opening documentary about Janis Joplin reveals just how uncompromising the pioneering rocker was. Palace Verona, Tue Jun 21, 6.30pm.

The Lure
The Little Mermaid this ain’t. A vampire-mermaid musical from Poland has sibling mermaid bloodsuckers performing as strippers in a seedy burlesque club. Palace Verona, Wed Jun 22, 8.30pm.

Paterson
Adam Driver stars in a film from veteran indie director Jim Jarmusch (Only Lovers Left Alive) – a quietly moving portrait of a bus driver poet and his wife. Palace Norton Street, Wed Jun 22, 8.35pm.

Personal Shopper
Olivier Assayas’s Cannes award winner stars Kristen Stewart in a film Time Out London called a “bewitching, brazenly unconventional ghost story”. Palace Norton Street, Mon Jun 20, 8.30pm. 

Sing Street
A boy attending a tough Dublin school sets out to impress a girl by forming a band. There’s music from ’80s bands like Duran Duran and the Cure. This once’s a total crowd pleaser. Palace Norton Street, Tue Jun 21, 8.30pm.

Swiss Army Man
People are loving and hating this black comedy starring Paul Dano, and Daniel Radcliffe as a corpse. Palace Verona, Tue Jun 21, 8.30pm.

Tickled
A documentary that goes to jaw-dropping places, its starting point is the world of competitive endurance tickling. Palace Verona, Wed Jun 22, 6.30pm.

Tokyo Story
Yasujiro Ozu’s 1953 family drama is an incredibly sensitive film about an old couple visiting their children and grandchildren in the city, but no one has any time for them. Palace Norton Street, Tue Jun 21, 6pm.

Wednesday May 9
A tense Iranian drama centres on a 30-million toman giveaway and the hopefuls it attracts in Tehran. Palace Norton Street, Mon Jun 20, 6.30pm.

Weiner
This doco is about former congressman Anthony Weiner and the sexting scandals that brought his New York mayoral campaign to an ignominious end. Palace Verona, Mon Jun 20, 6.30pm.
