It’s official. Three Blue Ducks is moving into the old Kitchen by Mike site in Rosebery. There has been talk of it for many months now, but the guys have finally announced that they’re taking the plunge.

Not satisfied with one fabulous restaurant in Bronte, owners Darren Robertson, Chris Sorrel, Jeff Benett, Sam Reid and Mark LaBrooy relocated to Byron Bay to launch the Farm, an eatery and real-life farm that has proved to be an enormous success. Produce from Byron is planned to make its way down to the new Rosebery restaurant, with word on the street that there will be a focus on barbecue, live tunes and lots more produce grown in the extensive gardens that neighbour the restaurant.

Three Blue Ducks hopes to be more successful than the short-lived Koskela Kitchen, which occupied the huge space (that shares the building with the Koskela homewares store) and barely lasted a matter of months. In contrast though, this feels like a far more appropriate restaurant for the site. With that garden, it could even be the new the Grounds. It’s due to open in June 2016.
