Dawn French: 30 Million Minutes

The fairy godmother of UK comedy is returning to Oz with her autobiographical show

Last in Australia for the 2013 series Australia's Got Talent, Dawn French is coming back with her UK touring show 30 Million Minutes. "It's somewhere between a monologue, a play, and an autobiographical slide show with a few funnies thrown in," says the comedian. In fact, it's got some pretty serious theatrical bona fides, being directed by Olivier Award-winner Michael Grandage.

Saw it earlier in March with wife, both huge fans of hers but were sorely disappointed. Humour was weak and obvious, it felt very contrived and manufactured. The history piece was interesting in terms of discovering a little more on Dawn's background but it was unfortunately spoilt by the weak material surrounding it.

We walked out at half time and were by no means the only ones.
