Time Out says

From February 15 you can catch one of the country’s most beloved comedy duos as they take over the Sydney Opera House in what can only be described as an eye-popping extravaganza that breaks all the rules of theatre.

The Distraction is a hilarious send-up of society’s obsessive addiction with screens, and takes the energy of live performance and the spectacle of cinema to create an unforgettable production that feels so much like magic, you’ll swear it was sorcery.

Performed simultaneously on stage and via a big screen, the show features all of the signature moves – vocal sound effects, verbal interplay and incredible feats of physicality – that have made the Umbilical Brothers not only wildly successful, but also innovative leaders of the international comedy scene.

The Helpmann Award-winning combo of Shane Dundas and David Collins have appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, supported Robin Williams on tour and even performed for Queen Elizabeth II. They’ve also won the Best Comedy Award at the 2021 Adelaide Fringe Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe Critics’ Choice Award, a couple of BAFTAs, and their children’s television series, The Upside Down Show, nabbed them an Emmy and a Logie.

For guaranteed belly laughs and a dose of pure escapism, The Distraction is the feel-good experience you need this summer. To purchase tickets, head to the Sydney Opera House website.
