Time Out says

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the tent – the night of horror movies, camping and dress-ups returns

Every good slasher movie gets a sequel, and so it is with the Horror Movie Campout in the eerie parklands of Mount Penang, one hour north of Sydney.

It's here that fearless horror movie fans will convene for an overnight horror movie camping festival, returning for a second year.

As darkness falls the large outdoor cinema screen will play curated short horror films and two features, to be selected by a vote among attendees from a list of 25 on their website. (Our picks? The Witch and Maniac.)

“Scare actors” will roam the site throughout the event trying to freak you out. DJ Beats and art punk rockers Destrends will blast out live on the main stage as you test your courage braving the "death chamber" scare maze.

The newly added Show Tent second stage will host freak-show acts, magician performances, and the Escape Cage challenge. From sundown to late you can dance to beats by DJ Matt Green at the Silent Slasher Disco.

Food trucks and a bar will keep you sustained for the thrills and chills. Tickets include a car park, camping space and access to the event. A luxury glamping upgrade gets you a tent and reserved seating.

If you’re planning on going, don’t forget to organise a horrifying costume to wear. Punters dressed like ordinary folks may as well have “victim” tattooed on their brows...
