The World of Women’s Cinema Film Festival is promoted by Women in Film and Television NSW to showcase the talents of women in the film industry.
Opening night sees festival patron Gillian Armstrong presenting her 1979 breakthrough movie My Brilliant Career, starring Judy Davis and Sam Neill.
Girlpower classic Thelma & Louise from 1991 is also getting a screening.
Panel discussions will cover topics sexism on screen; activism; alternative methods of distribution; and making movies while pregnant.
