Time Out says

A sleek, unisex salon in Darlinghurst brings beauty to everyone

From the rise of men-centric skincare brands to the burgeoning popularity of at-home facials catered to men, it's clear that the masculine folk also want a bit of the self-care action. But when Jessica Ross was working at a skin clinic chain, she noticed a gap in the market. Men wanted beauty services – but they weren’t always comfortable entering the average beauty salon or clinic, which many considered the realm of women – both behind the counter and as the target clientele.

“I wanted to create a space catering to both men and women – which meets them where they’re at," says Ross. “It’s all about creating a tailored experience for each person who walks in my door.”

And so began Unoit, a space Ross launched in collaboration with barber and men’s grooming specialist, Costa Zacharia. And before you ask, it’s pronounced ‘you-know-it’.

Housed in a chic, sleek space in the heart of Darlinghurst – think monochromatic design, mirrored walls and a steady stream of well-groomed millennials walking through its wide glass doors – Unoit transforms the hair and beauty experience into a seamless, unisex one.  Zacharia tames, cuts, colours and detoxes your scalp in the font barber area, while treatments are done in the chair itself, or in one of the plush treatment rooms. Dried flowers in moody hues spill over the walls for some oomph.

Once your hair is looking swish, let Ross and the team go deeper: they specialise in skin needling, facials, laser treatments and ‘Ultraformer’, a specialist therapy that uses high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) to build collagen levels and tighten skin at multiple levels. At Unoit, you can even go in for the notorious ‘vampire facial’ popularised online, in which blood is withdrawn from a person’s body and then injected into facial veins for plumpness and regeneration.

Haircuts start at $55; laser skin treatments are $250; while the Ultraformer treatment ranges from $200-$2300.
You can also pick up skincare from Australian brand Aspect, a skincare company deisgned to target specific skin needs with high concentrations of active ingredients.

Check out Unoit and make bookings online.
