Time Out says

Discover a fancier way to get off the grid at this plush glamping retreat in a secret location just two hours from Sydney

For some travellers, accomodation without WiFi or phone reception is a deal-breaker. But at Kookaburra Ridge, the first glamping venue by the team at In2thewild Tiny Holidays, being cut off from emails and texts is a key selling point.

Most of us are slavishly hooked on our personal devices, subject to a barrage of notifications and alerts from message apps and social media portals for most of our waking hours. But at this rustic retreat, set in unspoiled bushland just two hours north of Sydney in the Lake Macquarie region, you can unplug from all this digital chatter and get completely off the grid. In fact, you won’t even know the exact location of your stay until two days before your arrival. It’s all part of In2thewild’s mission to help guests switch off from the frenetic pace of everyday life and surrender to the remoteness and serenity of their surroundings.

Being immersed in nature with a touch of luxury is the vibe at Kookaburra Ridge. The bell tent accommodations feature a private deck with barbecue, a queen bed (two additional single beds can also be added to sleep up to four guests), and that most de rigueur of glamping perks, an outdoor bathtub. Guests also have access to the Kookaburra Tavern – a bar and games room featuring a dartboard, a small kitchen including a fridge and Bluetooth speakers, as well as bathroom facilities (which have heated showers and a hairdryer), a fire pit, additional barbecue facilities and even a swing, because who doesn’t love a swing?

Currently, there are just two tents available, but for larger parties of more than eight guests, BYO-tent options are available and you can even book out the entire site for just $549 per night. Single tents are available for $289 a night.
