Jules Verne’s intrepid journey is a well-trod path for many, who will have seen it in various incarnations on the screen and stage. In the classic novel’s recent stage adaptation by Toby Hulse, we follow the familiar characters Phileas Fogg, his new assistant Jean Passepartout and Detective Fix, who’s convinced the pair have robbed a bank. After Fogg wagers 20,000 pounds on his ability to circumnavigate the globe in 80 days, we watch them race frantically across the continents, encountering a horde of mad characters and bizarre Victorian inventions along the way.
This production of Around the World in 80 Days is directed by Terence O’Connell and will tackle the international adventure with just three actors playing the 39 personalities. The performance at the Riverside Theatres is perfect for kids over the age of seven and their theatre-loving families.
