The whole family can dine with dinosaurs at this outdoor experience

There’s nothing like a good bit of lawn for a dinosaur to stretch its legs and do all the things a dinosaur’s gotta do. Made to spark feelings of wonder, the life-size, lifelike prehistoric puppets from Erth, Sydney’s world-famous dino-recreationists, will wander right up to your picnic rug at this outdoor experience.

Erth’s Prehistoric Picnic will transport Parramatta Park and the Royal Botanic Gardens back to the wilderness of a distant era, and spark interest in paleontology even in audiences as young as five. All you have to do is pack a picnic, practice your dino-voice and prepare to get very close to your favourite ancient creatures – including, for the first time, the newest members of Erth’s prehistoric menagerie, the towering, three-metre-tall Thunderbirds. This experience comes to Parramatta Park (tickets here) from January 8 to 14, and the Royal Botanic Gardens (tickets here) from January 15 to 30. There are multiple sessions each day at 9am and 11am, and even a few evening sessions at 6pm at the Botanic Gardens.

Tickets are $30 per person, and children two years and under are free, so the whole family can join in on the fun of this prehistoric experience – just BYO picnic.
