Jurassic Lounge is back – this time with creepy crawlies, venom milking and insects for dinner
Hello, old friend. Back once again for a dress-up party at the Australian Museum, Jurassic Lounge is bringing all their scariest friends along for an adults-only party with the dinosaurs.
You can get up close and personal with tarantulas and funnel webs in the augmented reality cave where scientists will milk the spiders for their venom. Look out for a giant red back roaming the museum as puppeteer company Erth will be bringing their horrifying spider puppet on stilts.
Sneak into the silent disco for a silent dance-off. Step inside a darkened room and answer the question ‘trick or treat?’ Or visit the bug chef, Nick Jervis, who’ll be serving up crickets, ants and mealworms all night long.
Watch on as artist Ox King completes a large-scale work on site. Join in on a terrifying story of two unsuspecting backpackers in the Outback, played out by actors. Or do the monster mash in the Ghostbusters-themed dance class.
If you’re dead by the end of the night, no worries! You can plan your own funeral at the museum: craft your own tombstone, make your funeral playlist and update your farewell Facebook status.
As always, you can roam the museum and access all exhibitions and galleries. There’ll be a best dressed competition and pop-up bars across the venue. Plus, rap performances inspired by spiders, experiments with flesh eating beetles and ghost tours. It’ll be a wild comeback.
