Mark Sunday May 29 in your diary as an important day for live music in Sydney. American Express is presenting 'Back the Night' – a night in support of the night-time economy and the music industry that is set to light up the inner city with unique live music moments.
Leading the charge is one of Sydney's very own: indie superstars Gang of Youths, who released their emotionally intense third album, Angel in Realtime, in February of this year. Now London based, the band will make a triumphant return for Back the Night.
Gang of Youths will be playing Oxford Art Factory, but instead of a handful of support acts sharing the same stage, the supports will be performing on stages across Darlinghurst and Surry Hills, creating unique “micro-live” music experiences. Fans in attendance will have the power to jump from small venue to small venue and curate their own festival-style line-up for a truly memorable night.
Those supports are Boy & Bear; Alex Lahey; Odette; Bakers Eddy; Bec Sandridge (DJ set); Brendan Maclean; Cap Carter; Didirri; IMBI (DJ set); Jess Kent; Maddy Jane; Maple Glider; South Summit; Stevie Jean; Taka Perry (DJ set) and the Delta Riggs (DJ set). They’ll be playing at places as diverse as Bill & Toni’s, the Colombian Hotel, Hyde Park House, Surly’s American Tavern and Mrs Palmer. One ticket gives you access to every venue and every performance.
Tickets are now sold out, but don't despair. You can buy a limited-edition NFT by Boy & Bear. Four gold NFTs are available, and each comes with a double pass to Back the Night. Or, if you're a true fan, you can bid on the platinum NFT, which includes super-luxe Back the Night experience and a meet and greet with Boy & Bear themselves.
