Time Out says

This powerful artist will guide us through vulnerability and self-determination in his Sydney Opera House debut

In 2013, the highly acclaimed single, ‘Take Me to Church’, struck a chord in audiences across the globe, with its message of acceptance and criticism of how the Catholic church approaches sexuality. It came from a little known Irish-born singer-songwriter Andrew Hozier-Byrne, who’s now known as the Grammy-nominated Hozier.

This haunting yet hopeful track flung Hozier onto the global stage, and he toured his self-titled 2014 album across sellout shows. Now, we’ll hear classics from this formidable blues-rock playlist like ‘Jackie and Wilson’ and ‘From Eden’ at his two upcoming Sydney Opera House performances.

But it’s his most recent EP, ‘Nina Cried Power’, that will lead the show. It features rhythm and blues vocalist Mavis Staples and Booker T. Jones on the tingling organ. Have your heart and soul primed for uplifting gospel and R’n’B inspired sounds that are a testament to the cultural roots of rock, its legacy of protest and revolutionary spirit. The fast-paced track leads his upcoming album Movement, which will hit our soundwaves and the Opera House stage in 2019.
