Julien Baker’s singer-songwriter skills found international fame with her debut album Sprained Ankle, one of 2015’s breakout releases. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, she boasts a stripped-back style of playing and direct lyrics dealing with topics including substance abuse, queer identity and depression, delivered with a voice simultaneously sonorous and fragile. Two of the three shows Baker has lined up for the Newtown Social Club are already sold out and the third is selling fast.
