Leah Flanagan is giving a free performance in the park

Sydney Olympic Park is hosting a free family day on Thursday with a performance by singer-songwriter Leah Flanagan. The event is in honour of NAIDOC Week, which this year is celebrating the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women who have played, and continue to play, active and significant roles at the community.

The event will include educational activities exploring the Wangal people – the traditional custodians of the lands and waters of Sydney Olympic Park and surrounds – with guided mangrove walks and talks by education officers, who will explain how the Wangal people utilised natural resources in a sustainable way for their everyday needs.

There’ll be a free barbecue, a Welcome to Country at noon and storytelling and weaving.

Head to Jacaranda Square behind Olympic Park railway station.
