The Youth Group singer and songwriter will perform tracks from his new album
Frontman for indie rock band Youth Group Toby Martin will perform a special concert inspired by the residents of Bankstown at Carriageworks on Saturday April 29.
Martin will appear alongside a full band featuring local Western Sydney musicians of Vietnamese and Middle Eastern heritage, who will come together to perform tracks from his new album Songs From Northam Avenue.
The album’s roots were carved during Martin’s artist residency at Urban Theatre Projects in 2013, which saw him invited to write songs on residents’ front verandahs and nature strips along Northam Avenue in Bankstown. Martin went on to finish the album, which is heavily inspired by the people he met during his residency, and the resulting album was released in February of this year.
Martin will be joined on stage at Carriageworks with Dang Lan, Mohammed Lelo and Adnan Baraky.
