Just around the corner from St. Peters train station you’ll find Aslan Coffee Roasters, a speciality café that works exclusively with beans sourced from Indonesia. The name comes the Turkish word for lion, a reflection of the strong flavours of the coffee on offer.
The café is hard to miss, with a large and colourful lion’s head mural greeting customers outside.
Breakfast runs until midday during the week, but is open all day on the weekends. The maple glazed bacon, avocado breakfast bruschetta and breakfast ragout are among the highlights.
The lunch menu is open from 11am-2pm. Big ticket items here include the roast veggie salad, the pulled pork burger, with meat that has been slow roasted for seven hours, and the tempeh orek burger, an Indonesian style veggie burger. Be sure to keep an eye out for the lunch specials, which are updated regularly.
Aslan’s coffee selection is constantly being updated as they select beans from different areas of Indonesia, with an aim to promote the coffee quality of our close neighbour. Feel free to ask the welcoming staff if you’re unsure of where to start your Indonesian coffee journey. There are also fresh juices available as well as a selection of loose leaf teas from T Totaler.
