Book in for a meal this Sunday to support a country in crisis

As India's Covid-19 crisis continues to worsen – with the country experiencing more cases in the last seven days than anywhere else in the world – Café Freda's is helping in the way it knows how: through cooking for the community.

On Sunday afternoon, you can book in for a spot at the Taylor Square café for a family-style vegetarian meal put on by the venue’s head chef Xinyi Lim, also known under her moniker @megafaunafood. There'll be "flatbread, curry, chutney, rice and dessert" according to Lim, with each set menu priced at $45 per person.

All of the proceeds from tickets sold for the event will be split between two Indian not-for-profits: the Hemkunt Foundation, which provides Covid-19 patients with oxygen cyliders, and Goonj, which gives food and medical support to marginalised communities, including migrants, transgender people, sex workers and artisans.

Book in your spot anytime between noon-9pm on Sunday, May 16.
