The cheese festival that takes over the Hunter is back again
Sydney's love affair with cheese is so great that we now require a whole weekend minibreak dedicated to fromage and curds in order to sate our appetitie.
The Cheese Lovers Festival is back again for the second year, and this time it is going to be spread across two days on Sat Jun 17- Sun Jun 18. Each day runs from 10am-5pm at the Sebel Hotel at Kirkton Park in the Hunter Valley. That’s less than two hours from the centre of Sydney – two short hours to get you to cheese paradise.
If you didn't make it last year you might be wondering what kind of cheesy activities can you get up to when you’re there? Well we’ll tell you. First off, there are going to be 50 stalls showcasing cheese. All kinds of cheese. There are going to be plenty of kids activities to keep them occupied while you try out local Hunter Valley wines and White Rabbit beers alongside your food.
You can enter the fancy cheesecake competition, attend workshops on cooking with cheese or learn how to make it yourself, and for the serious consumers, you can book tickets to the fancy cheese dinner on the Friday night, or the cheese lunch on Saturday.
Surely a weekend of all the cheddar, comte, gruyere, brie, camembert and goat's cheese you can handle is worth the cheese hangover – they exist.
