Don’t let the location, tucked away inside the Junction Mall, put you off. This fast feed of chicken schnitties served “the way nature intended – flattened, crumbed, goldened” has become a destination for ravenous surfers, pram-pushers and everyone else needing tasty ballast served with a sense of humour. The schnitzels are done just right – fresh, hot, not too oily, not overcooked – and are available in a wrap or au naturel with salad and chips. The wraps ($10-$11) come in foil and a mini plastic sheath to catch sauce drips, and the crunchy salad surrounding the bird includes beetroot, vegetable of kings. Fun fact: the chips come only in one size – large – so as to “take the drama out of deciding”. And why not finish it all off with a milkshake ($4-$6)? They also have a food truck, and their polished branding suggests they intend to franchise out beyond Newcastle. Harry may yet become as famous as his marketing boasts; snacking of this calibre deserves nothing less.
