Say hear, hear if you like the sound of a long and luscious Friday lunch. Strangers’ Restaurant, overlooking the beautiful Domain parklands, offers a rare opportunity for locals, tourists and city slickers to dine with history and art at New South Wales Parliament House.

Adjourn from the office, rally your work crew and book an elegant three-course lunch with matching NSW wines for $126. Acting executive chef Karl Alarab rotates Strangers’ menu with the seasons, including special Christmas-themed menus in July and December, and proudly supplies from local farmers who practise ethical and sustainable farming methods.

The lunch crowd can expect to find everything from ocean trout tartare and ricotta gnudi to pork and river mint cotoletta, pan-fried snapper fillet, Grand Marnier crème caramel and an all-Australian cheese plate.

Strangers’ matching wines showcase the award-winning and unique wineries from across NSW, ranging from the warm regions of the Hunter Valley to the cool-climate areas of Mudgee, Orange and the Southern Highlands. You can also start the weekend early with their new and complex cocktail, the 58th, which features the limited-edition Parliament Gin infused with local botanicals, lemon myrtle liqueur, sparkling rose wine and finger lime.

Complete your elegant long lunch with a purchase of the recently released Dining at NSW Parliament cookbook. You’ll be taken on a journey with over 50 recipes, photographs and historical anecdotes dating from the mid-19th century ‘Refreshment Rooms’ through to today’s modern fine dining service.

You don’t have to be a politician to wine and dine at Strangers’ Restaurant. Lunch is available from Monday to Friday noon-3pm and bookings can be made online here.
