Sydney is home to one of the world’s great Chinatown districts, encompassing Haymarket, Darling Harbour and the Central Station area, and every year Chinatown comes alive for the annual Lunar New Year celebration.

Food is an integral part of the festivities, and all those dumplings, noodles, rice cakes, fish and more aren’t on the menu just because they’re delicious – they have symbolic importance too. Dumplings represent wealth, whole fish prosperity, noodles longevity, and rice cakes, social advancement.

Whether or not you're ringing in the Year of the Ox, anyone is welcome to make the most of these seasonal morsels. Throughout Chinatown, eateries are offering auspicious menus and special deals. Here are just some to book in for.

Guests are reminded to follow the latest NSW Health advice regarding social distancing, hygiene and staying home if unwell.
