The markets launched in September of 2016, and take place from 4pm to 10pm every Friday night. When we head down, it looks like the whole of Blacktown has turned out to grab a bite to eat, including the recently re-elected mayor.
A DJ is blasting pop tunes on request – rocketing between Nicki Minaj, Lou Bega and the Lumineers with no transition.
Food stalls range from classic carnival food trucks (think curly potatoes, burgers and roast beef rolls) to vendors that showcase the diversity of the Blacktown community.
Our picks are the Argentine empanadas (order the tuna with a side of guac), Cambodian fish soup, and the Filipino grilled skewers. The market has more than 50 stalls filling the forecourt of the Blacktown Council Chambers and curling in a snail-shell along the village green.
