Some come for the 25,000 paperbacks stacked from floor to ceiling, some for the coffee. We come for both. Tilt your head to the ground for the $5 crates of children’s lit and a dog-eared copy of Don Quixote and then set up for the day at one of the big communal tables and order up sandwiches filled with spinach and buttery mushrooms, a little quiche snack or something sweet from the cake fridge.
