Opening the centre with a traditional flair, visitors to Melrose Central from 2pm on August 29 will hear the ringing bells or see the flashing tassels of a lion dance. This traditional Chinese performance art stars a pair of performers in a colourful masked costume, dancing to bring about good luck and fend off evil spirits. Consider it a spiritual bonus to the other goodies on offer during the opening festivities.
Sydney’s going through a growth spurt, especially in the west, and one of the latest arrivals in the worlds of food, lifestyle and retail is setting up shop (pun intended) in Melrose Park. This is Melrose Central, the brand-new shopping hub tucked between Sydney Olympic Park and North Ryde.
