Pottery Barn Bondi Junction

You'll find Pottery Barn nested among its brothers – Pottery Barn Kids, West Elm and Williams-Sonoma – at the mouth of the Oxford Street mall in Bondi Junction, just opposite Westfield. And you won't be the only one finding it. In the week or so since opening, this huge American chain store has been drawing crowds – folks who love plush sofas and shiny, rustic-looking pewter candle holders and picture frames. If you like wicker on your chairs and patterns on your pillows, you're going to love this place.

Downstairs is narrow – all four stores have separate entrances on the mall side and seem a little squished, side-by-side – and features a kind of best-of selection of what you'll find upstairs. What you'll find up there are big, wood-framed beds with pastel-coloured linens and coffee tables and some of the cutest wooden salad-serving sets we've ever seen. The feel is Hamptons beachhouse, like being stuck on the set of a Nancy Meyers movie (Something's Gotta Give, It's Complicated).

While you're here, be sure to head to Williams-Sonoma – especially if you have deep pockets and a deep appreciation for gorgeous-looking cookwear (you know, the copper-lookin' stuff that should be hanging over the kitchen island you can't afford). Our budget allowed us to leave with one napkin holder, but our little Darlinghurst hovel is all the classier for it.
