Aussie activewear is a much broader world than the Lorna Jane empire. If you’re ready to get your tuckus back into the gym or you’re after some duds that can withstand rigorous walks and runs, have we got some options for you.

This list mainly focuses on clothes designed for women (and others with hips), and we’ve gone to the trouble of earmarking the size range each brand stocks, as well as the price range you can expect for that staple of activewear items: leggings.

Whether you’re ready to hit the treadmill running when gyms can welcome back eager exercisers, or you’d just rather step into some stretchy pants over your old jeans, we’ve got some options. After all, as that viral 2015 skit from all-women comedy trio Skit Box likes to remind us whenever the monotone chorus of “activewear, activewear” gets stuck in our heads, activewear is great to wear for all manner of activities that don’t strictly involve exercise – like doing the groceries, showing off babies, and nursing hangovers.

With designs created using recycled water bottles and fishing line, the tights and crops from this brand are a fabric to feel good about. Born and bred in Sydney, this range is designed with fitness in mind from Australia’s unofficial outdoor training capital, with fits that would not look out of place on anyone who chooses to jog the Bondi to Coogee. While their quick-dry, four-way stretch, compression fit fabrication helps smooth and support the body, their density knit fabric has got you covered for squats, lunges and jumps.

This Aussie brand with a bricks and mortar store in Bondi was created by a couple of Sydney-based best friends in 2013 with a mission to make quality activewear that feels great so wearers can enjoy “picking, pulling and adjusting-free workouts in on-trend pieces”. This enviro-conscious brand even makes clothing out of used plastic bottles! If you shop the recycled edit, including some exclusive sets on The Iconic, you can find pieces made from their signature MoveLite fabric, which is made from used plastic bottles that are broken into flakes, melted into pellets, spun into yarn and knitted. The result is said to be silky soft and easy to move in.
