Time Out says

Hit the pavement this October to champion mental health

Show your support for people living with mental illness, their families and carers by participating in this year’s Wellness Walk. Now in its sixth rotation around the block, the annual walk encourages open discourse about mental health in an attempt to break down social stigmas around certain conditions.

It’s also a great chance to get moving along Sydney’s scenic walkways and get those endorphins flowing for more positivity. There are two courses to take, both kicking off at 9am. Take a leisurely 2km stroll around the Royal Botanic Gardens or power-walk the 6km over the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Both loops start and finish at the grounds of Government House, with pre-event activities and music before you set out and a post-walk barbecue party to finish. You’ll be supporting advocacy and community outreach group One Door Mental Health by registering for the event, and can contribute further with more fundraising efforts.

The Wellness Walk is one of many events focused on mental health popping up around the city in October for Mental Health Month.
