Time Out says

Riverside Theatres has announced a handful of new performance dates for an off-kilter show from Sydney Theatre Company and State Theatre Company South Australia

If you grew up in Australia you’re likely to have many memories of school, albeit fond or not-so-fond ones. Those rooms, quadrangles and corridors are probably etched on your memory.

One room that was forever out of bounds and elusive, however, was the staff room. Did you ever ask yourself, ‘what is really going on in there?’ If you did, you’re in luck.

Directed by Jessica Arthur, Chalkface peels back the red curtain of the staff room offering an insightful look into the hilarious and sometimes confrontational encounters that may or may not have occured. Playwright Angela Betzien describes Chalkface as a “whack love letter to teachers” – and Time Out’s reviewer says it sure is.

If you’re keen to come along, Riverside Theatres has just announced four new performances of Chalkface happening on November 3 to 5. Tickets are on sale now, and start from $59 per adult.

Starring Ezra Juanta, Catherine McClements, Michelle Ny, Nathan O’Keefe, Susan Prior and Stephanie SomervilleChalkface explores themes of friendship and loss, purpose and frustration, and may make you ponder on how important, yet often underappreciated, our teachers are. Tinged with nostalgia with a hefty dose of comedy and humility, this show will resonate with anyone who went to school here in Australia.
