Time Out says

Kickstart the Shakespeare Under the Stars season with this classic comedy filled with feuding fairies, eloping lovers and a madcap troupe of actors

The Australian Shakespeare Company’s outdoor theatre series returns this autumn with the Bard's most magical comedy, A Midsummer Night’s DreamRoll out your picnic blanket and settle in for two-and-a-half hours (including a short intermission) of whimsical delight over a BYO picnic as this magical play comes to life. Playing from April 9-28, this bespoke experience is bound to delight all ages.

After receiving rave reviews from London’s Kew Gardens’ season in 2021, this production will be presented under the stars for the very first time at Belvedere Amphitheatre in Sydney’s beautiful Centennial ParkFull of twists and turns, A Midsummer Night’s Dream takes audiences on a riotous ride through a magical forest where misguided lovers, meddlesome fairies, a madcap troupe of actors and a foolish man with a donkey's head roams (just roll with it).

“We’ve reimagined A Midsummer Night’s Dream in a way that makes it even more
accessible and in step with today's world," says artistic director Glenn Elston OAM. "It is a rare opportunity to present a play that concerns itself with themes so relevant to the current state of the world and reflective of the never changing effects of the human condition."

"It is a wonderful experience to enjoy art and nature together under the stars, bonding with the performers as we all experience the same open-air conditions and go on the adventure with the characters in a more immersive style without the restrictions of a normal theatre.”

Chairs are available to hire on the night, and complimentary glasses of wine are on offer if you’ve booked A Reserve. A Midsummer Night’s Dream plays April 9-28, Tuesday to Sunday at 7pm (Gates open two hours prior to show start). Ticket prices vary, and you can save across preview screenings, cheap Tuesday, and off-peak times.
