Sam Wang takes on the international world of espionage in this one-man comedy

East meets West and Top Gun meets James Bond in this bilingual one-man comedy show that brings the world’s most spoken language – Mandarin - to the Belvoir Downstairs stage. Written and performed by Sam Wang in conjunction with an all Asian-Australian creative team, the tongue-in-cheek tale starts in 1993, where China’s Operation Skyduck sees super spies Captain Yan and Agent Yang sent to steal America’s prized flight simulation software. But their plans are thrown into chaos when they encounter hotshot Australian agent Commander Kendrick, who has plans of his own to take down the Chinese military. Playing all seven characters, Wang will perform his Chinese heroes in Mandarin, with English surtitles. “I’ve never seen a show that used Mandarin this much, and not just as a plot device, but as something that’s celebrated,” says Wang. “So I decided to write one.”
