Opened in 2015, the Depot Theatre has quickly made a name for itself with seasons of original, fun and challenging theatre. It is located within Sydney’s oldest and largest community centre, the Addison Road Community Centre.
Moving away from the price tag that often accompanies a night out at the theatre, the mission of the Depot Theatre founders Julie Baz and David Jeffrey is to change the way people see and think about theatre and performance. Held in a relaxed and informal space, the performances allow audiences to engage with some of the freshest voices on the Australian creative scene, as well as a range of artists from abroad.
The theatre is also nurtures Sydney’s up and coming creative talent, and has been a favourite stomping ground for hungry young writers and performers for years, championing the independent attitude of local theatre and the important and engaging stories that it produces.
