Here's a great way to learn about the work of three local charities while networking and having some great drinks and snacks at the same time.
Volunteer-run organisation 10x10 Philanthropy is hosting an event where three charities explain their work in a fast paced Shark Tank-like presentation. You get to eat, drink, mingle and ultimately decide which of the charities will receive the proceeds of your tax deductible $100 ticket (minus $10 to cover the costs of the event). On August 15, the three charities are:
Might and Mane – shaking the stigma around mental health, this group is training barbers how to talk to men about their feelings.
Generous and Grateful – a charity delivering packages of pre-loved essential white goods and furniture to people that need them most.
Human and Hope Association – helping Cambodians transform their lives through empowering and sustainable methods.
The evening's 'shark' will be Wendy McCarthy, chair of Circus Oz, deputy chair of Goodstart Early Learning and a non-executive director of litigation funders IMF Bentham.
To date, 10x10 Philanthropy has raised over A$1.8m for 172 charities. Tickets are on sale now.
