Time Out says

'Tis the sweetest season at the Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney

[Sponsored] Dessert queen Anna Polyviou and her team are bringing festive cheer to the Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney, with a series of sweet and magical pop-ups this Christmas season. Get into the spirit by booking into a festive high tea. There will be yuletide takes on traditional teatime offerings, like finger sandwiches with roast turkey and cranberry; brie and maple-glazed ham croque monsieur; Yamba prawns on house made brioche; and goats cheese brûlée. You'll also enjoy buttermilk scones with vanilla clotted crème, mini Christmas puddings with currants and eggnog and fruit mince star tarts. You'll also get to try Anna Polyviou's special summer dessert, which sees a trifle of tropical jelly and popping mango pearls topped with red berry choux and a candy cane crunch.

This year Polyviou has also used 1,000 kilos of gingerbread bricks, 200 kilos of fondant, 500 kilos of lollies and 200 lollipops to create a custom gingerbread train in the Shangri-La's lobby. Here, you'll also find the festive pop-up store, where you can buy a slice of the sweet action to take home. Choose from ginger ninjas, fruit mince star tarts, Christmas puddings, mini gingerbread lolly bag houses and lolly jars to gift or treat yourself to. Polyviou will also be running gingerbread making classes (available with the high tea) from 11.30am-3.00pm on December 2 and December 16.

The festive high tea costs $55 per adult and $27.50 per child (6-12 years), with bookings essential.
