Time Out says

Learn one of the oldest trades in the world: hammer on steel

Things are heating up in again in Eveleigh Workshops this season, with a range of blacksmithing classes on offer for any students – beginners or craft professional.

Under the guidance of skilled smith Guido Gouverneur and his team, spend some time swinging a hammer and forging your own metal objects, from barbecue sets to knifes of all shapes and sizes.

There are a range of courses on offer, with a simpler course on making a cheeseboard and knife (July 16), perfect for beginners and an impressive gift idea to show off at your next party. Or for those with a little more knowledge behind them can take up the Damascus Steel course (July 9-10) and learn the historical craft of forging intricative designs in a single piece of steel. With plenty on offer, there's a course for everyone who might be facinated with the tradtional craft of smithing.

Classes are instructed by trained professionals, with some of the best in the business like Keith Fludder – award winning knife-maker; David Chee, fine wood-work tool maker; and blacksmiths Matt Mewburn and Lok Sutherland.
