Time Out says

Australia’s biggest regional drag festival is heading for the big smoke

Hold on to your boa, babe, Broken Hill’s famous Broken Heel Festival is taking over the Imperial Hotel in Erskineville for the campest, draggiest, gay old time you’ve seen in the land Down Under.

That’s right, the festival that pays homage to The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is coming to one of the cult film’s original filming locations. The Imperial has had quite the facelift since Hugo Weaving was filmed stomping along the bar in stilettos in 1994, and on this occasion she’s getting a full makeover to squeeze all the fun and flair of Broken Heel into a one-night-only mini-festival on the eve of the Mardi Gras Parade, Friday, February 28.

Festival poster girls and drag superstars Art Simone and Philmah Bocks will be on the scene spreading around the fabulousness along with Jemima Handful, Maude Boate, Vonni, Kita Mean, Anita Wiglit, Jojo Zaho, Felicia Foxx and the Impy’s gorgeous resident queens.

There’ll be an extra-special Drag n’ Dine taking place in Priscilla’s restaurant (honey, you’ll wanna book ahead for that) and pop-up performances on the ground floor throughout the evening from 6pm. A dance party will take over the basement from 10pm, where you can shake your groove thing all night; this part will cost you $10-$15 on the door for entry. At that price point, this might just be the most accessible party of the Mardi Gras season.

Buckle up, buttercup!
