A Rockpool chef is cooking up the ultimate British snack party in the CBD

Sometimes, you just crave a taste of the old country, and even if Old Blighty isn't actually your home, we've all read enough British tales and watched enough Midsomer Murders to have a sweet spot for the UK – especially afternoon tea. That's why up'n'coming chef Jake Ryan Dolin from Rockpool Bar and Grill is taking over the kitchen at PS40 for three days of British treats, which they're calling Bubble and Squeak.

Pop in for a cocktail and order a side of Welsh rarebit, some Coronation chicken finger sandwiches or pork scratchings. Got a gap to fill? How about applewood-smoked Berkshire leg ham, Montgommery cheddar and house-made piccalilli, or pigs head terrine, or bubble and squeak croquettes with house made mustard. You'd best believe there's an Eton mess for dessert, too.

The UK hit-list doesn't stop with the eats, either. Behind the bar they're getting into the spirit of things with a drink called Peas & Carrots, which mixes vodka, snap peas, carrots, smoked salt and aquavit. Or for something fruitier try the Apples & Pears, a Spritz made with riesling, rosemary vermouth, nashi pear and lemon myrtle. You can also get the jump on winter with the Tea + Crumpets, which is a cold-busting mix of tequila, Earl Grey, lemon, and house-made honey crumpet flavoured soda.

It's only on for three days, so now that the weather feels appropriately Northern Hemisphere-ish, it's a good time to bunker down for an afternoon tea that goes all night.
